Your first week in Austria after moving

The first week is not about doing everything. It is about doing the sequence that unlocks the next steps.

Day one: stabilize the basics

Confirm your accommodation, internet or mobile access, transport options, emergency contacts, and where your key documents are stored.

Days two to four: start official admin

Prioritize address and registration tasks, insurance status, employer or university paperwork, school communication, and any appointments that affect your legal or practical setup.

Days five to seven: make life usable

• Open or prepare banking steps.
• Set up phone, transport pass, and utilities if needed.
• Find nearby healthcare, groceries, pharmacy, and key services.
• Track deadlines and missing documents in one place.

Keep a relocation folder

Use one folder for passports, certificates, residence paperwork, contracts, insurance documents, school files, employment documents, translations, and appointment confirmations.
